I’m pretty sure every woman out there has fallen victim to participating in a fad diet. You know, the type of diet that you hop on board for that lasts only a short-ish amount of time and you’re promised amazing results? That’s a fad diet.
I’ve tried a number of these types of diets with varying results with each. Now, it really depends on the type of diet you’re on, but there are pros and cons to fad diets. Read all of them below and decide for yourself if they’re worth it or not.
1 They kick-start a healthier lifestyle.
Whether or not you stick with that specific diet or not, you have already made a change to start living a better lifestyle and eating better. Even if your fad diet ends very shortly, you will already be on your way to being healthier just for even trying.
2 You will learn more about eating healthier.
It really doesn’t matter which type of fad diet you participate in, you will learn something about eating healthier. Whether it’s what foods are better than others, or what foods contain specific qualities you need, you’ll learn a thing or two by being on a fad diet.
3 It will work.
As long as you stick to it, the benefits will be prevalent. Even if they’re not as much as you expected or it takes longer to accomplish, fad diets do have payouts eventually. Any fad diet has the focus of making you healthier and more than likely causing you to lose weight. They do work if you stick to it!
1 They’re not always the best for you.
Fad diets tend to be extreme diets. This means that they restrict food intake and can even have negative effects on your health. Although you may still lose weight, etc., you can also potentially be harming your health in ways that you are unaware of.
2 They’re very hard to stick to.
Because these diets can be so extreme, they’re really difficult to actually stick to. This means that you will not always reap any benefits from the diet if you can’t stick to it. These diets can leave you hungry and unsatisfied and can actually cause you to break them much quicker than a traditional healthy meal plan.
3 They can be expensive.
Depending on the type of diet you’re on, you will have to buy stuff in order to participate. A lot of the times, these diets call for weird foods, spices, and supplements that will make your wallet cry. Although these things may have amazing benefits, your bank account may disagree with how much you need them.
Fad diets have many benefits and have worked for so many people out there. But people should also be aware of the cons of these types of diets have as well. Ultimately, you know your body best and it’s up to you to make the decision to fad diet or not!
